The Sweetest Surprise…
It’s a very rare occasion indeed that I’m surprised by anything. At nearly 36 (eek) years old and the momma to two (I’m still grinning like a Cheshire cat when I say that) boys, there is very little for me to be surprised by. I know all about Father Christmas, the Easter Bunny and company, and unless we win the lottery that we never enter, that’s me done with surprises. Or so I thought!
When the postman knocked on my door last week and handed me a large jiffy bag, I was clueless. I swore to Gavin that I hadn’t been buying anything, but all the same, Gavin eyed it with suspicion, imagining what his our money had been spent on now. I did try to protest my innocence several times, but it was lost on him.
When I opened my (alleged) surprise, I was speechless. Inside was a book. Not any old book either ~ an amazing book that I had been waiting MONTHS to be published, only to find out that it wasn’t to be shipped to the UK. I discovered this at a time when things were going not so well healthwise for me during my pregnancy with Lyoto and I was miserable about it. I love making pretty things for Jensen (and now Lyoto) and this book had promised to show me how to make even more of them. I even entered a competition to try and win one, but the competition then stated that you had to be a US resident to enter.
Anyway, I digress. I was surprised and confused simultaneously. I knew I never won that competition as I was voided from it, but I still had the book? Then it became clear and I became tearful at the same time. Inside the package was a note…
Morgan had sent it to me! I was so shocked! She told me that she had seen me enter the competition (Morgan likes to make pretty things too, and is a brilliant cook from what I read on her blog!) and even tried to enter to win for me! When she didn’t, she bought this book for me to cheer me up! I know that there is a massive excess of exclamation marks in this post, but I am just so, so happy!
I’m sure by now you’re wondering who Morgan is. Well, Morgan is a dear friend and fellow Disney Bride whom I virtually met in 2007 (or 6, I can’t remember) whilst planning my wedding along with her, on the DISBoards. Now we’re both Disney wives and have stayed in touch virtually, even though I’ve never met her in person ~ I hope that one day I will, then I can thank her face to face. Morgan, you made a rainbow appear on my rainiest of days. I can’t thank you enough for your friendship, and your kindness and generosity. I hope one day I can do the same for you.

Oh you are going to make me cry! I am so, so glad I could bring brightness to your day. And I mean it- I really want to see all of the brilliant things you make with the boys!
