JUNO MY BABY ELEPHANT

The second interactive rebel we bought with us to Granny and Grandad’s house this summer [the first being Owleez] was Juno. Juno is an interactive Wildluvs creature from Spinmaster and joins the actual zoo of animatronic creatures in our home.

JUNO MY BABY ELEPHANT OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Juno simply needs unboxing and is ready assembled. However, you can’t play with him immediately.

BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED WITH JUNO

So Juno doesn’t come with batteries but needs 4 AA batteries to operate – and I know it’s a small thing but I’m always really frustrated when a toy needs batteries installed before the boys can play with it. They get all excited unboxing it and then have to wait whilst I rifle about trying to find the right batteries and screwdriver, and flap about over-excitedly whilst I’m trying my gosh-darned best to get it working properly.

Even more frustratingly for me, the battery casing was such a pain in the butt to open – I had to wedge a flat head screwdriver under the partly opened battery compartment in order to fully unscrew it with a small Phillips head screwdriver.

WHAT DOES JUNO DO?

So many things. His eyes, ears, trunk, head and body all seem to have it going on at once, and it’s quite a spectacle. Juno blew the boys away.

Juno’s first interaction with you when the batteries are in and he’s switched on, is to play peek-a-boo with his gorgeously flappy ears. It’s adorable and the boys played for quite a while until they realised he could do so much more. I think there are around 150 different sounds and actions that Juno can perform. Juno even farts, which is a bit of a cheek when you’ve just given an elephant a home.

WHY JUNO IS BRILLIANT

Juno is a rebel. There are more and more toys on the market now which have a little bit of cheeky about them – but Juno takes it to the next level. Throwing peanuts, toys, farting – it’s a little taste of what the boys were like as toddlers [except for Hero, he was a Mary Poppins of a toddler], right back at them. The boys were in hysterics as Juno literally “wanged” [as the boys called it] the peanut and bounced it off Jens’ head.

CUDDLES FROM JUNO

Everyone loves cuddles in our home. And no matter how old they’ve gotten so far, they all love to give cuddles to toys and it melts my heart more than a little to see them nurturing and comforting, and taking comfort in, cuddling something they care for. When you fold Juno’s back legs under, and cuddle him, he makes a lovely “I love you” kind of set of noises that make the boys come over all paternal, and his little trunk arches up and kind of cradles their face. It’s all too lovely for words.

UNPREDICTABLE ELEPHANTS

The unpredictability and full on fiesta feeling of Juno is brilliant – it’s the most animated toy we’ve ever had, and the boys are smitten with him. Their 97 year old great nan also fell in love with him and wanted to see him dance over and over.

THE JONES BOYS TOYS: OUR VERDICT ON JUNO

Juno is gorgeous. Big floppy ears and adoring wide eyes, a wiggly little elephant tail and thr pink tuft of hair on the top of his head make him irresistible to our boys. The range of things that Juno can do is astounding and he’s a remarkable toy.

If we had any issue at all with Juno it would be that we wish that the trunk fabric encasing his nose and possibly his ears could be removed for washing. Juno is lovely and sparkly right now, but after much love and interaction, his trunk is going to be a little more than grubby and we all know that spot cleaning with a damp cloth doesn’t cut it when it’s all over grubbiness.

It would be amazing if toys of this quality were available at a lower price tag. £80 is a HUGE amount of money and although Juno really is a brilliant toy, there are so many children who won’t be able to receive this from Father Christmas on account of the huge price tag – and if Juno is *the* toy that your child really wants to ask Father Christmas for this year, it leaves little room for the purchase of other presents in an average family budget, especially if you have more than one child.

That being said, if Father Christmas does have room for Juno in his sack, it’s the most entertaining animatronic toy we’ve had so far and the boys love that it’s not a dog or cat. Personally, I’m waiting for a little charging Rhino to be made…
