So when I went to the ShopDisney event last month, I was blown away by all of the new Frozen 2 Toys – I mean, merchandise. I have to call it ‘merch’ according to the boys. One item in particular I fell in love with and if you were watching our Insta Stories that week, you’ll have seen him over and over again and there was a Frozen lovefest over him. He’s the best, most Christmassy Disney toy I could imagine and when I laid eyes on him, I had no idea he was actually for sale and joked that I’d take him home. The Playdate Sven Toy.
Well, now he’s HERE. IN MY HOUSE. Sven is here and he’s completely amazingly awesome…and he bought a couple more things with him, too!
PLAYDATE SVEN TOY
First off, the big question…
CAN YOU SIT ON SVEN?
Well, if you weigh 70lbs or less, you can! Hero was beside himself with glee and so were the other two, although Jens’ legs are a bit long now. Haha. You can climb aboard and pretend you’re Kristoff, Olaf or Anna, galloping off into the snow. This has got to be the BEST role playing toy I’ve seen from Disney yet. HUGE potential for imaginary play and he looks INCREDIBLE.
WHAT ELSE DOES SVEN DO?
REINDEER NOISES
If you press or wiggle the Sven Toy’s head, he makes reindeery huffing and talking noises, like he’s talking to you [again, my boys are pretending they are Olaf and Kristoff and singing “Reindeers are Better than People” on repeat]. If you take the carrot that comes with Sven and pop it in his mouth, he makes more reindeery chomping noises which are adorable. For even MORE noises, sit on Sven [or stand by him] and pull on his reins. He’ll chat some more and make galloping sounds for you.
BATTERIES INCLUDED
Hooray, our Sven Toy comes with 2AA batteries already installed. He’s just brilliant. Just look at that face.
INTO THE UNKNOWN ELSA DOLL
The third surprise we unboxed was the all new Disney’s Frozen 2: Into the Unknown Elsa Doll.
This doll is pretty. Now I don’t get many pretty dolls in this house before the boys try their hand at hairdressing and so I’m making the most of it. Into the Unknown Elsa is designed to look like Elsa as a little girl – older than the Disney Animator’s Collection type of dolls but not by a huge amount. She has big wide eyes and a looks like a four or five year old according to Hero.
Her arms and legs are moveable and her hair although braided [my favourite style] can be loosened and combed out.
Elsa has on her new purple dress which is super sparkly and with a blue gem sewn onto the chest. Pressing this gem allows Elsa to talk as a little girl – she has 14 phrases from Frozen that she can say – and she sings too – a snippet of her big Frozen 2 song, Into the Unknown, in her grown up Elsa voice. If you’d rather she just had the instrumental version of the song you can change to this using the switch on the back of her body. As she sings and talks, her dress sparkles with lights from under the fabric.
There are 3AAA batteries included – but I’ve a feeling ours are going to run out fast as she’s been talking and singing with the boys all day.
ELSA’S ENCHANTED ICE VANITY
WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE SET?
There’s the vanity table with mirror and closing doors, and accessories are included – there are 2 hair clips, 2 barrettes, a brush, comb and headband – and they’re all quite sparkly and Frozen themed to perfection.
You can store your accessories in the spaces on top of the vanity or inside the drawer for safekeeping.
When you open the doors to the vanity table, you can hear the unmistakable music from Arendelle and in the mirror, and see Arendelle castle lights up in the background. If you press the snowflake button near the vanity surface, you can make more images of Anna and Elsa’s life appear. The one with their Mom is very cute! There’s also the chance to hear a little clip from Elsa’s new big song from Frozen 2, Into the Unknown.
BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED
So this time, oddly and sadly, there are no batteries included – and you’ll need 3AA batteries to power this vanity table.
WHAT’S MISSING?
The only moment of “hmmm” that we had about this gorgeous set was that there’s no stool or seat with it. That would have made this set perfect. No one stands to brush their hair at a vanity.
i can’t wait to see frozen 2
