Peely’s Banana Fortnite Fondue – a Fun dessert themed on the Epic Games Legend; worth coming back to the lobby for!

Hey, friends! Since the first lockdown in March 2020, my boys have fallen in love with Fortnite from Epic Games. If you’ve never heard of it, I’m shocked. I’d heard of it long before my boys played it and all I understood is that it was the worst possible game for my boys to be playing. No one could seem to tell me why, the message was that it was inappropriate for them. So, naturally I had to take a look. Here’s a quick guide to Fortnite from my perspective if you’re a parent of children who want to play but you have no idea what’s involved.

Fortnite Fondue – Fun Food

Anyhow, as you can probably tell, my boys play and love Fortnite. So today I decided to make a little Fondue Station for Peely [one of the characters in Fortnite] and pals. It went down well and took only a few minutes to prepare for an after school treat.

To make Peely’s Banana Fortnite Fondue, you need:

Bananas – make sure they aren’t overripe or they’ll be just horrible in the fondue. We want fresh bananas for this.

Toppings – I had sprinkles, mini sweets, dessicated coconut, nuts, mini marshmallows, freeze dried strawberry bits and squirty cream for hair.

Edible Eyes – I have three different sizes of Wilton eyes, but you can make your own edible eyes easily following this post.

Chocolate – I used Dairy Milk and bought 4 bars for £1 in ASDA, which is the cheapest way of buying Dairy Milk that I’ve found. I think it works out about 53p per 100g.

How to prepare for a Fondue

There’s not much to do for a Fondue! Here’s all you need.

Fondue Set – I have this teeny one from Flying Tiger and when the boys use it I generally take the tealight candle away so they’re left with a bowl of melted chocolate – because let’s be honest here, it isn’t going to last long. Haha.

Straws or Sticks

Dishes for toppings – lay them out so they can be reached easily.

Plates for your bananas after dipping – because melted chocolate has a habit of getting everywhere in my house.

Microwavable Bowl for the chocolate

Spoons for spooning the chocolate into the fondue, and for the toppings.

Epic Fortnite Fondue Party Time

The first thing to do is to prepare the toppings bar. My mom bought me this one from Amazon for my birthday and it’s perfect because it comes with little lids for if you’re eating outdoors. Pop mini spoons in and make sure the jars are in reach of the smallest person in your party [ours is Hero, and he complains when he can’t help himself].

Cut up the bananas and pop onto sticks ready. I put mine in the fridge for a few minutes because the heat was ridiculous here – the only time an extreme heat warning was issued in the UK.

Melt the chocolate in the microwave or bain marie. When I use the microwave I melt mine at 700 watts for 1 minute and stir, stir, stir. In this heat I did 30 seconds.

Pour the melted chocolate into the fondue set.

Serve!
