WHAT’S FOR DINNER?
What’s for dinner? Well….It’s glaringly obvious from my recent receipts from ASDA and the Co-Op that when I don’t plan meals, I spend a fortune. I was going to say small fortune, but honestly, it’s a fortune. I hold my breath at the checkout and smile and say thank you whilst inside I’m crying and trying to normalise it in my head.
So in an attempt to save money and get ourselves on holiday next year [I really need to see Mickey Mouse again], I’m trying really, really hard not to overspend.
Here’s what we’re eating this week. Some days the boys eat differently to us as they aren’t huge fans of curry yet – and Lyoto hardly ever eats the same as us because he’s a REALLY fussy eater still.
SO WHAT’S FOR DINNER THIS WEEK?
IT’S HALLOWE’EN TIME – BUYING PUMPKINS
My lack of awareness is made worse by the fact that we are now in Hallowe’en month. This is the month I buy about £80 of pumpkins from the patch to carve, and all manner of new animal skeletons new tableware from whatever fun range they have at ASDA. I buy PJs and chocolate molds and anything that the Disney Store has in that resembles a pumpkin. So I’m trying to hold it down this month. Today’s shopping cost £90 for the week – and that’s for what we’re eating above and everyone’s school lunches and breakfasts.
For those of you who’re asking what’s for dinner Saturday, it’s unplanned yet. I like to leave one day free at the weekend to eat whatever we fancy.
HOMEMADE SALMON EN CROUTE
Each week I’m going to try and make something instead of buying it already made. This week it’s Salmon en Croute. After I mentioned having it at BlogOn last week, it’s clearly been on Gav’s mind because he mentioned it instantly when I asked what he wanted me to add to the shopping order today. I like to cook simply and so it’s going to be an easy one – but I’ll pop the recipe that I use on here when I’ve done it.

Perhaps we could have your Salmon en Croute recipe
Some lovely meal ideas. Particularly like the Vegetable Bhuna as I love a good curry!
