BIBBIDI BOBBIDI BOUTIQUE FOR BOYS
Find everything that you need including the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique info in our Ultimate Guide to Planning Your Disney Holiday.
In case you’re off to Walt Disney World and you’ve never heard the words Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo before, these are the words that Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother uses to transform her with fairy magic into the beautiful Princess that we all know and love. Walt Disney World has its own Royal Salon where transformations take place every day at the hands of Fairy Godmothers in Training. You see, to become a Fairy Godmother, like everything that’s worthwhile in life, takes a lot of practice.
The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is one of the highlights of Walt Disney World if you’re over 3 and under 12 years old. If you’re younger, or older, or you’re after a different kind of make-over, read on – because we have you covered too.
Anyhow, what a lot of people don’t realise is although this is the hotspot for a Princess in training, it’s also open for Knights and Princes in training. Oh yes. The BBB is open to children of all gender identifications and you can choose to be anything your heart desires – as long as the costume is there [or you bring it with you] because Fairy Godmothers need challenges.
We took Prince Jensen, aged 3, there to become a Knight of the Magic Kingdom before breakfast with Cinderella at the Castle, and he loved it. The sword and shield with a huge Maleficent dragon on it have survived to this day and featured at many dress up days at school.
HOW TO FIND THE BBB
The location of the BBB is the easiest to find on all WDW property – just head to the Castle up Main Street USA, head through where the portcullis should be [the gate], through the centre and past the Cinderella mosaics, and on the left hand side, there’s the door to the Bibbidy Bobbidy Bunch.
However, not only is there a BBB at the castle, there’s ALSO one at Disney Springs – this one doesn’t require park admission to enter, and there’s a Photopass Studio by Ghiradelli’s in the Disney Springs Marketplace complete with Prince and Princess set ups if you’d prefer not to battle with the castle crowds and capture some more styled portraits too.
Prices vary and there are packages for just hair and makeup too – you can buy your dress before you arrive or take your favourite costume with you – because sitting in the make up throne whilst the Fairy Godmothers in Training transform you is what it’s all about.
Be prepared for many happy tears as your heart alternates between wanting to bottle the feeling of seeing your little one in their make believe wonderland forever but also then wishing you’d been able to do this when you were little and prance down Main Street like Tiana.
HELPFUL TIPS
TIME IT RIGHT
The BBB salon appointments take between 30 minutes to an hour, so leave plenty of time if you’re planning to dine afterwards and are making reservations, in case they run late. You will need a credit card to book, and if you don’t turn up without cancelling, your credit card will be charged $10. We allowed two hours from the time we booked to our reservation with Cinderella at the Royal Table and we were happy we did, since we also met the Fairy Godmother whilst we were on the back courtyard to the castle waiting.
MAKING RESERVATIONS
You can make reservations for any of the activities in this post [except Fairy Godmother, you have to track her down] 180 days out – and now you can book online too. If you can’t make a reservation when you first try, don’t be downhearted – keep trying each day as cancellations appear all of the time.
COMBINE ACTIVITIES
If you are dining at Cinderella’s Royal Table over your holiday, make sure you book this for the same day. You’ll get the sweetest photos from your Knights, Princes and Princesses and you can cry over them for years to come.
VIDEO IS YOUR FRIEND
Don’t forget your video camera – the Disney Photographers will be on hand snapping away [if you have the Memory Maker package, let the photographer know so they can capture as many photos as possible for you] and of course, you can take photographs too – but the videos we have of our boys so teeny are the most precious. They likely won’t remember a trip being so young – but when they see themselves on video back at home, it brings the magic home to keep forever.
KNOW WHAT YOU’RE BUYING
Check out all of the different packages and price points on the Disney Site – and then have a look at any hairstyles too. When you have over excited little ones, knowing their choices beforehand stops any tears afterwards when they got all caught up in the moment and forgot to choose the “right” hairstyle/dress/shoes/insert anything at all that they’ve dreamed about all year [without telling you, naturally].
THE FIRST LOOK
Clients of the BBB are made up and transformed facing away from the mirror – so be ready for the big reveal and their first look at themselves, it is ADORABLE.
GET AN EARLY APPOINTMENT
Try and get an early appointment! We booked super early so that we could get photographs on Main Street with an empty castle forecourt too. We’d been to BBB and were on our way to Cinderella’s Table when we found the Disney Photographer on Main Street for family photos. Then you can also video them pretending to storm the castle without fear of colliding into other tourists/dragons 😉
TAKE YOUR OWN CLOTHING – AND A CHANGE TOO
Take your own costume from home! Dresses in the parks are beautiful but also expensive. As I said earlier, being in the chair and made up like a Princess is what it’s all about for most children. Don’t forget to pack a spare set of normal park clothes because odds are that your little one is going to prance about for so long, they’ll get hot and need to change to something cooler later. This way you avoid going back to the hotel if you hadn’t planned to until later.
HIDDEN PHOTO LOCATION
Behind the BBB is a special place for photographs – don’t forget to check it out. Gav and I had some wedding photographs taken in here with the invitation scroll and I love them so much!
OTHER ALTERNATIVES TO BBB
If you’re under three years old, you can’t have an appointment at the BBB – but don’t worry – you have two more options!
THE PIRATES LEAGUE [AND MERMAIDS TOO]
If it’s a Pirate’s life for you – or a mermaid’s for that matter – you can head over to for a Pirates League Makeover. Jensen was decked out as a pirate before the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage with Gav and it was brilliant. He even got his own pirate name. You can find it hidden between the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Adventureland, Magic Kingdom, and the Plaza del Sol Bazaar, where you can find lots of Pirate goodies to buy too. Basically, it’s the pirates’ equivalent of BBB with a range of packages and prices to suit. Call (407) 939-2739 and ask for the Pirates League.
HARMONY BARBER SHOP
You can visit the Harmony Barber Shop for a magical haircut- Lyoto had his first ever haircut here by legendary barber Michael and it was ADORABLE – it was $25 and worth every dollar. You’ll get to bring home a certificate and your little one is gifted a pair of First Haircut ears which are most loved in Lyoto’s memory box. Call (407) 939-7529 and ask for the Harmony Barber’s Shop – remember the least busy times are early morning [which we did, and it filled up FAST] or during the parades. Whilst we were waiting for our appointment, the Dapper Dans showed up outside [a barbershop quartet that we love SO much] and sang us some tunes too!
FIND THE FAIRY GODMOTHER
If you don’t need to trim your hair but still want to look dapper, you can track down the Fairy Godmother – we’ve found her a few times behind Cinderella’s Castle – and ask her to sprinkle her magic dust on your hair!
CHARACTER COUTURE
We all know that Disney doesn’t allow grown ups and children over 14 to emulate the characters in the park for various – and very valid – reasons, but now there’s a fun alternative to cater for those of us who want a little bit of extra Disney Magic! Castle Couture makeovers are the grown up equivalent of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique – except you aren’t limited to Princes and Knights – you can be ANYONE you like. The specially trained Cast Members [cosmetologists] will transform you like no one else.
There are three packages – choose from Storybook Style [$80] which is a character inspired hair styling experience with glitter and an optional tiara;
Magical Makeover [$105], which is hair and make-up [eyes and lips] with false lashes included, and special light-up LED lashes for an additional $15; and
Timeless Transformation [$120] Hairstyle, Makeup and Jamberry Nails with gorgeous character details! I had Ariel Jamberry nails once and they were so pretty!
Character Couture is available at:
