4th July Strawberry Cake Jars
4th July Strawberry Cake Jars – simple, light and fruity desserts in cute jars, to celebrate American Independence Day on 4th July
Happy 4th July, friends! We celebrated with our American friends this year because we were supposed to be out in Walt Disney World celebrating – but with the world as it is, we’re here instead. Better safe than sorry. This is the easiest dessert ever because there’s nothing to bake, just bits to pop together and serve.
Strawberries in England
I love strawberries and cream in the Summertime here in England because it’s the only time they nearly all taste good. If it’s not Summer, then there are two places I trust to have berries that are as tasty as they’re supposed to be – and that’s from Berryworld, which you can get at Marks and Spencer or the Green Grocer in Romsey. I’ve had so many tasteless berries from other places that I’ve given up trying.
How to Make Your 4th July Strawberry Cake Jar Desserts
There is minimal equipment needed for this dessert.
- Your favourite knife
- Chopping Board
- Piping Bag and Nozzle
- Whisk and Bowl
- Jars for Dessert
- American Flag and Decorations
Ingredients for your summer fruits Independence Day dessert
So easy – only three ingredients! You’ll need a large tub of Double Cream for whipping, a punnet or two of
Strawberries and any other fruit you like [we used raspberries and blueberries as we had them in the fridge too], and a couple of Angel cake loaves, or Pound Cake, Vanilla Sponge cake – whatever you prefer. I like angel cake as it’s quite dense but fluffy.
Instructions for assembling your dessert jar
- Start by cutting the Angel cake into slices vertically, discard pink layer because we don’t need that one. My boys ate this. Haha.
- Using the cutter, make stars from Angel cake layers and put to one side.
Whip cream in bowl – this is going to take about 5 minutes but it’s SO satisfying when you’re done. Also, your arms will thank you for the toning. - Spoon cream into piping bag – I use a round nozzle that gives a smooth round stream of cream.
Cut Strawberries into quarters. - Layer berries, cake and cream into the jar. Decorate it how you like and pipe cream into the cracks between the cake and berries. I added a few raspberries and blueberries to a few of mine as some of us like all the fruits, but some of us like just strawberries.
- Pipe cream on top in a swirly fashion, and then decorate with Angel cake stars.
- Pop in flag and decorations, and you’re done.
- Refrigerate until you’re ready to serve – I never make mine too far in advance because the strawberries go soggy and I like them as fresh as possible. Enjoy!
