FINDING NEMO THE MUSICAL
Taking over from Tarzan Rocks! at the Theater in the Wild, since 2007 Finding Nemo the Musical has brought to life Disney Pixar’s 2003 Film with the live musical brilliance of Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez – composers of the music of Frozen and Frozen II! The show features fantastic Disney puppeteers bringing Nemo, Dory, Bruce and Friends to life in colours that pop – and it makes me cry every time! We first saw it in 2008 on honeymoon and then our boys got to see it [a few times, I might add] in 2013 when Bruce stormed the stage to the excited “umphm!”s of Lyoto, who couldn’t speak yet, but sure knew that was his favourite shark on that stage.
We love the show because first of all, it’s the amazing standard of entertainment we love from Disney; it’s flawless and beautiful. Secondly, it gives a lovely break from walking around [and it’s air conditioned, hooray!] and last of all, it’s completely captivating for all ages. There’s no complaining, no fidgeting, just Nemo and Friends on stage and the film condensed into a 40 minute adventure!
WHERE IS FINDING NEMO THE MUSICAL?
It’s performed in the Theater in the Wild, Dinoland USA. There’s a narrow path leading to it that you can find easily – watch out for everyone leaving though, it gets a bit tight! If I remember, as the doors are opening, there’s usually a Cast Member directing people towards the show entrance, so you won’t miss it!
IS IT SUITABLE FOR EVERYONE?
Yes – it’s wonderful fun for everyone in the family. The Theater in the Wild is wheelchair accessible, and there is assisted listening and closed captioning available as far as we know.
WHAT TIMES IS IT ON?
Finding Nemo the Musical is shown several times daily as far as we’re aware – but remember to check the Animal Kingdom’s entertainment schedule at the park entrance – you can pick up a paper copy and keep it with you, and of course it’s in the My Disney Experience App too.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
The show lasts for around 40 minutes, and it’s a lovely break from the heat some days!
CAN WE GET A FASTPASS+?
Yes you can – but we wouldn’t waste one on this. Not that it’s not worth it, because it really is – but we’ve never had to turn up earlier than half an hour before the show, and often we’ve walked in as they were letting in. There are 1,500 seats for each show and we’ve always managed to get four!
POINTS TO NOTE ABOUT FINDING NEMO THE MUSICAL
Watch the bubbles during the pre-show settling period. Look out for Nemo!
The air-conditioning is always welcome after traipsing around in the heat, it’s an added bonus if the show is good.
We loved this show when we went – makes me want to go back!
