CHEF MICKEY’S – DINE WITH THE FAB FIVE!
Love Disney Dining? Looking for a character meal like Chef Mickey’s? You can find everything you need in our Ultimate Guide to Planning your Disney Holiday!
CHEF MICKEY’S RESTAURANT
If you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy a fun filled character meal, Chef Mickey’s is the place for you. And if you have small children, this is the number one place to head because no one is going to judge you based on your children’s food choices or table manners – Chef Mickey’s is all about the fun side of food.
You can have breakfast, brunch or dinner at Chef Mickey’s – we usually visit for breakfast though because I love American breakfasts and I know that all of the boys will find something they love right here that will take them to lunch.
After you check in, you’ll be directed to the photo area where this large plate and statue of Mickey are for some photographs. Remember to hand over your camera too to a Cast Member! Then you wait with a little buzzer for your table to be ready. Take the buzzer to the podium and you’ll be taken to your table and told about the buffet. Food is self serve here – and you can go up as many times as you like. Let it be said that we have never, EVER had a nice family photo at the Chef Mickey stand. There’s something about it that doesn’t like us. Haha.
WHERE IS CHEF MICKEY’S ?
Chef Mickey’s is one of the restaurants inside the Contemporary Resort. It’s just a step off the monorail at the Contemporary Resort and down a level! Hop on the escalator or lift and then head for the big Chef Mickey’s arch.
WHAT TIME IS IT OPEN?
There are three different meal sessions at Chef Mickey’s – breakfast, brunch and dinner.
Breakfast | 7:00 AM – 11:15 AM |
Brunch | 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM |
Dinner | 5:00 PM – 9:30 PM |
HOW CAN WE BOOK?
You can book online or through My Disney Experience app – or by calling 407-WDW-DINE (407-939-3463) or (407) 939-1947 from 7AM to 10PM. If you’re staying onsite at Walt Disney World, you can make your reservations from 180 days before your arrival date, and for ten days from the date you call!
HOW DO WE GET THERE?
That depends on where you’re coming from, but the monorail stops inside the Contemporary resort and there are buses from the parks also. Make sure you leave plenty of time for travel. You can also walk from the Magic Kingdom to the Contemporary Resort if you want to, and cut out the bus or monorail completely.
WHAT KIND OF FOOD IS THERE AT CHEF MICKEY’S?
We generally go for breakfast because we love the buffet – especially the Disney bacon [mmmm] and breakfast casseroles, as we don’t have that kind of thing every day here in the UK! This is also a place for MICKEY WAFFLES!
It’s all American cuisine and the choice is pretty huge. I like to take a cour a couple of times before I start to fill my plate! Although there are people who say it’s mediocre, the boys love it, we’re always happy and full, and if you’ve ever visited a theme park in the UK, any Disney food is a million times better than their offerings, even at its worst.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Meals at Chef Mickey’s cost around $50-65 per adult and $30-38 per child [aged 3-9]. Children under 3 aren’t charged.
CAN WE USE THE DISNEY DINING PLAN?
Yes, you can use the Disney Dining Plan at Chef Mickey’s. Tables in Wonderland card holders receive a 20% discount.
WHICH CHARACTERS CAN WE MEET?
The Fab Five are all here – and they all visit your table too! The Character handlers make sure that each character visits each table, so don’t worry about being at the buffet, they’ll make sure you’re visited!
POINTS TO NOTE ABOUT CHEF MICKEY’S
It’s noisy. So noisy. But it’s a place where there’s something for everyone to eat and no one is going to leave hungry. And there are so many children, if you have a child who has a meltdown [and we all do at some point] then you won’t stand out in the crowd. Haha. It’s fun, boisterous and a real family restaurant. There are no evil stares here.
If you’re celebrating, mention to the Cast member on the podium! We received a little pixie dust in the form of the cutest cupcakes ever – with candles too! The boys were beside themselves.
Outside the Contemporary Resort sits the huge steel Mickey ears seating construction that people are so fond of – hunt it out for a fun photo!
THE NAPKIN DANCE
Napkin twirling is a bit of a thing in Chef Mickey’s – and every half an hour or thereabouts, some music will come on in the restaurant and Mickey and friends will twirl napkins and dance around – and everyone is encouraged to join in! Just remember to make sure you don’t have any food or cutlery on or in your napkin before you start twirling!
We loved chef mickey! I love the kids tops and chef hats!
We went for a character buffet breakfast, and I thought the prices were pretty outrageous, even for Disney. The prices you quote are even higher than when we went. It’s hard to see how a 4 year–old can eat $30 worth of food.
I would love to meet Chef Mickey, he looks so much fun!
