180 Days…It’s WDW ADR Time!
Just over a couple of weeks ago, we reached our 180 day mark.
If you’re not a Walt Disney World addict, this will mean nothing to you. To anyone who has planned a holiday there before, it’s the second step of holiday planning, and possibly the most stressful one. 180 days means it’s ADR time. And you better be ready when your time comes. It’s Disney war, baby.
ADRS are Advanced Dining Reservations; Disney World’s system for pre-booking meals at table service restaurants. Way back in 2008 when we were planning our wedding there, this meant devising a huge list of dates and times that we wanted to eat at different places on Disney property, and then telephoning Disney to arrange it. It meant getting up at the crack of dawn at times to attempt to secure the more elite reservations such as Cinderella’s Royal Table, and it was long and arduous, negotiating times with the cast member way across the pond.
Fast forward to now and finally the ADR system is online, and so much easier to do. We’re done. In 2008 we ate at nearly every table service restaurant that there was, and so we had a pretty good idea of where we wanted to take the boys. Whether they will enjoy the character meals is another matter, but they’re all booked and easy to cancel if things don’t go as planned.
We’ve mostly chosen character meals and buffets to keep them entertained. There will be no Le Cellier or Victoria and Albert’s again for us, but that’s okay. Luckily the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival is on whilst we are there which means that hopefully I can still get some of that cheddar soup from Canada!
