The Christmas tree farm this year was even more fun than usual. This weekend, ignoring all of the homework and other nonsense we had to get through, we made an effort to wrap up warm and go out to spend time together, away from the living room. Thanks to the local gazette, Gav discovered a…
It’s generally about this time of year that I realise I never posted our Pumpkin Patch photos from the year before. So in true fashion, here they are from 2018. Note that THIS year, I’ll be able to edit and post them after we’ve been as all of the boys are at school now and…
Before we’re immersed in Christmas preparation, we thought we’d better add this post in! If you connect with us on Instagram, you’ll know that like at Easter, Valentine’s, St. Patricks and other various holidays in our household, the boys received gifts in a special basket. I managed to make the mister happy too this year…
Our pumpkins were carved on Jones-time this year; the day after Hallowe’en. Because when your littles are 4, 2 and 4 months, it’s okay to pretend that carving them the day after is still Halloweeny (yes, that’s a word in our house). In fact, this whole week, and the weekend ahead of us is still…
I had never picked cherries. When I was a little girl, cherries magically appeared to me, in a crinkled and scrunched up brown paper bag with the top rolled down, proffered by my beautiful granny on a Saturday afternoon after her mid-morning trip to the greengrocers at the top of her road. We spent afternoons…
St. Patrick’s Day celebrations made simple! I hauled my box full of St. Patrick’s Day stuff from “that cupboard” this morning after the boys had started school, to see what I had ready for next week. Over the past few years I’ve collected a few bits that I use every year and as St. Patrick’s…

What a lovely thing to be able to do. I fear any Christmas trees felled round here would be from someone's garden!

This is such a heartwarming post! I love the pics. I am growing a Christmas tree to use in a couple of years too!
I am LOVING all your pictures. We have a place right up the street (literally) that sells trees, so we usually just pick one out and walk it home. I would love to chop one down someday.
That's a great tradition to have! I love the pictures and I am sure he was very excited to get his very own tree. It's a shame that a disease has destroyed all the rest of the trees!
What a beautiful family you have! Living in the city my whole life this is something I never got to experience, like EVER. I can't wait for our move so my daughter can have memories like this. You took such beautiful photos too, a shame you couldn't score a big family tree, but it's nice your boys will have their own tree this year! Lucky!
Aww. Look at him with his freshly cut tree. What a cute little man!
This brought a tear to my eye. What a wonderful right of passage. That is the most adorable little tree, too!
