I had no idea that we were going to be enjoying our first Backyard BBQ of the year this weekend – but when I woke up on Saturday, Gav casually mentioned that he’d already invited his parents over for just that – that afternoon.  After the fastest get-your-clothes-on-and-get-out-of-the-house-and-into-the-car performance in recent history [second only to the…
When I was in my late teens, I was in love with the photography of Anne Geddes. You know, the “famous baby” photos from Friends (from the Elle McPherson episodes). I had diaries, calendars, and when I left for law school in 1994 (how old I feel saying that), I plastered my bathroom at my…
This lazy Summer photo has absolutely nothing in common with the post I’m writing, but I love it. In truth, I’m sat in my Primark cotton pyjamas, crunched over the body of an 11 month old baby who has drifted sweetly to dreamland, as I mentally try to organise the rest of my week and…
So whilst I’ve been away for a couple of weeks, attracting and repelling germs and other delights, we have also been having a great deal of fun and now it’s time to catch up on what we were up to! Over Hallowe’en we decided to have a little daytime party. In Spring we have…
Following on from yesterday’s post featuring six of the best edible Christmas Advent calendars, as I was saying, this year we’ve decided to investigate as many advent calendars as possible not only for little people but for us grown-ups too. There were around 30 amazing beauty ones that I looked at, but these are my…
At the first glimpse of Easter sunshine peeping from the perpetually cloudy Hampshire sky we bunny hopped, skipped and jumped at the chance to get out into the fresh Spring breeze and hunt…because the Easter Bunny’s treasure awaited us! The Jones Family Candy Hunters were corralled in the garage whilst things were set up. …

What a lovely thing to be able to do. I fear any Christmas trees felled round here would be from someone's garden!

This is such a heartwarming post! I love the pics. I am growing a Christmas tree to use in a couple of years too!
I am LOVING all your pictures. We have a place right up the street (literally) that sells trees, so we usually just pick one out and walk it home. I would love to chop one down someday.
That's a great tradition to have! I love the pictures and I am sure he was very excited to get his very own tree. It's a shame that a disease has destroyed all the rest of the trees!
What a beautiful family you have! Living in the city my whole life this is something I never got to experience, like EVER. I can't wait for our move so my daughter can have memories like this. You took such beautiful photos too, a shame you couldn't score a big family tree, but it's nice your boys will have their own tree this year! Lucky!
Aww. Look at him with his freshly cut tree. What a cute little man!
This brought a tear to my eye. What a wonderful right of passage. That is the most adorable little tree, too!
