Mickey Mouse Chips ‘n’ Dip
Hey, friends! Today I spent the day cutting out Mickey Mouse shaped tortilla chips ready for the boys to come home from school…and I’m so glad I did, because now they have a new favourite snack – Mickey Mouse Chips ‘n’ Dip! Now, NONE of my boys will eat a tomato if offered, and all will tell you how awful they are….yet those same three boys will sit and eat a bowl of nachos with salsa and not bat an eyelid. I live in fear of them discovering that there are real live vegetables in that there salsa dip, but at the moment they’re eating in blissful ignorance.
And, you know how I love Mickey Mouse shaped anything – well, I got my cutters out in the name of it nearly being Cinco de Mayo, and made these within fifteen minutes flat. They look so cute, they couldn’t be easier to make, and they’re a huge hit, especially as me and my boys can’t enjoy Mickey shaped foods in Walt Disney World for quite some time until this whole Coronavirus business is under control.
Ingredients for Mickey Mouse Nachos
I bought three ingredients for these:
- Corn and Wheat Tortillas
- Oil [we used vegetable]
- Sea Salt Flakes and Seasoning
And the equipment I used was:
- A cutting board
- Mickey Mouse Cutters
- Baking Paper
- Baking Tray
- Shallow Dish [for the oil]
- Pastry Brush [for the oil]
I used the corn and wheat tortillas because they were softer to use and far easier to cut too, and they cooked very nicely. Use whatever kind your family likes best. There are all kinds of seasoning you can add to them – cracked pepper, paprika, whatever takes your fancy!
How to Make Mickey Mouse Tortilla Chips
SO easy.
- Preheat your oven to gas mark 4, or about 350 degrees.
- Line your baking sheet with greaseproof paper
- Cut out the tortilla shapes and lay on the baking sheet
- Spray with oil or use a brush to coat them lightly with oil
- Sprinkle on seasoning
- Pop in oven for 5 minutes and monitor – stay close, because these go from golden to over baked in the blink of an eye.
- Leave to cool and serve with salsa and sour cream, guacamole and whatever takes your fancy!
